To celebrate 10 years of WWW.DRWILLEM.COM an essay competition has been organised about diabetes. The competition is open to young persons (of all ages!) with diabetes. Essays can be submitted from 1st January 2008 until 31st May 2008.
The aim is to give young persons with diabetes the opportunity to write about their condition to express their ideas, feelings and emotions and at the same time have a chance to win one of the attractive prizes. This writing is not only a pleasure to do but it can also help people to come to terms with this life long condition. The other aim of the competition is therefore to build up a collection of essays which give an insight into the experiences of young persons with diabetes.
The essays will appear on this website and a selection will also be published in a book. The whole collection of essays will serve as learning material for professionals in their efforts to support their patients.
The competition is also open to the young friends and relatives of the young persons with diabetes, but they cannot win one of the main prizes. Their essays will also be published on the website and can be rated. They are eligible for honourable mention.
There are a number of prizes:
WINNER * £250.= + £100.= for the hospital
2nd prize * £150.=
3rd prize * £100.=
honourable mention * £ 50.= 2 x 3 prizes
(3 for persons with diabetes and 3 for friends or relatives)
three prizes of £20.= will be raffled amoung reviewers.
All published essays have a rating section attached which readers can use to give their opinion. This online rating will be the ultimate scoring result of this competition.
