This website was started in 1998. To commemorate the 10 years anniversary I have organised an essay competition for young persons with diabetes. The pages are already uploaded, but submissions will be accepted only from 01/01/2008.

The DIABETES section has been completely redesigned. All subjects can be reached from a central page, but also all pages are linked with each other. This gives you (patient, parent or professional) a better overview and gives me the opportunity to update quickly.

This summer I have spend some time cleaning up the web-site. That means checking links, deleting non-used pages and assessing which chapters need to be reviewed or supplemented. Most pages are on purpose difficult to find for the search machines and this has also been looked to see which pages should be avaiulable for the search machines. There will never be a moment of completeness as the world keeps turning......

This month a new chapter will be opened 'DrWillem's Thoughts'. This will be a regularly supplemented collection of DrWillem's opinions about paediatric health care and medical ethics, all in the scope of current events. It is not really a weblog as this form is blocked by many networks. It is just a normal page, but there is no difference for the viewer.

A new year (2007 this time) is a fresh start or a new start, back to sqare one and ahead you go. In fact everything is as usual. But there are a few plans. This first trimester the guidelines for EMERGENCIES will have to be completed and at least a beginning has to be made with the General Paediatric Guidelines. The Neonatal Guidelines are ready in themselves, but need an updating review and preparation for the WWW. A lot of work though.
Another subject is the site itself. There have been some problems with the 'return forms' and at this moment a whole new set of pages/forms is being completed.

The guidelines for the treatment of Diabetes type 1 are now available on this site. Almost all the guidelines are on display. What still will follow is a document with all the educational subjects that we offer the parents and children. The diabetic nurses (especially Fiona) have put a lot of work in it. It wil be regularly updated, older versions rejected.

The guidelines for diabetes care for parents and children is near completion. Various subjects about diabetes care are presented in separate pages. It contains all the steps that are taken by the professionals from diagnosis until follow up and there are also advice sheets. Click in the menu on 'diabetes' and then go to 'treatment' .

This new homepage was put on the website on April 17th 2006. Most pages of the opening chapter have been changed more or less. More chapters will be added in the next few weeks. Keep looking.
